Jespal graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine in 2000. She obtained her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Auckland University in 2002. She commenced her training in anatomical pathology and cytology under the Auckland Regional Training scheme. This included rotations at Auckland City, Middlemore and North Shore Hospital laboratories and working as a Cytology Trainee for four months at Diagnostic Medlab. Jespal is a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Her specialities are Histopathology and Cytopathology.
