Updated LabPLUS Pre-Testing Requirements

LabPLUS Tests Requiring Prior Approval
(e.g. Vitamin D, Homocysteine)

LabPLUS provides a DHB funded testing service for a group of tests (see below) which need prior approval from a LabPLUS Chemical Pathologist.

Requests from Specialists, Private Hospitals & Aged Care Facilities:
If the request meets the prior approval criteria, DML collects the samples and sends them to LabPLUS for processing and reporting as usual.

If a request is not approved by LabPLUS, DML will collect the samples and arrange testing either at DML or at Canterbury Health Laboratory (CHL).

In this instance the patient will be responsible for payment of the test/s at the time of specimen collection.

When  referring a patient to a DML collection room please:
1. Note on the request form any tests that are not approved for testing at LabPLUS.
2. Note on the request form "Patient to Pay" if the patient is required to pay for all requested tests.

Requests from General Practitioners, Naturopaths or for Health & Wellness Testing:
If a request is not approved by LabPLUS, DML is able to collect the samples and arrange testing either at DML or at Canterbury Health Laboratory (CHL).

The patient will be responsible for payment of the test/s at the time of specimen collection. When referring a patient to a DML collection room, please note on the request form, "Patient to Pay".
